1920s Themed Party – hat

Well, made a felt hat for the 1920s party we are supposed to go to.  Not really happy with the shape, I do like it as a hat to wear everyday, but not really the cloche shape I was after.  The pattern book I purchased of Etsy, was good, it gave a peek at the way we did craft all those years ago, if you are looking for ready made patterns that you just pin on and cut then this is not the book, you do need to draft the hats from their instructions, but if you are looking for ideas, and a bit of inspiration then this is great.

Was very easy to draft, not so easy to put together, I wanted it lined so cut out two of the brim and bow at back, sewed together and top stitched.  wasn’t sure how to join brim properly so just hand sewed it which is fine for now.  Should have lined to top and sides as well, don’t really like that bumpy look very much.

I think to get a proper cloche style hat I need a hat block, which I’m not about to purchase at the moment.  But anyway, have found a pattern for the dress, hopefully get it next week so I can get going and start sewing it.
